City of residence: Berkeley
Work: I am an independent filmmaker and freelance reporter in the Bay Area where I focus on stories about environmental justice and public health. I graduated in May from UC Berkeley, earning dual master’s degrees in journalism and public health and producing a film on the fragile lives of migratory beekeepers.
What joining AAJA means to her: I first joined AAJA as an undergraduate at Arizona State University (Go Devils!) as a way to connect to local journalists and grow my professional network, but it wasn’t until I served as a student board member with AAJA-SF two years ago that I began to engage deeply with what it means to be an AAPI journalist. AAJA-SF has been a pillar of support for me during the pandemic and the past few years in a new city. I am constantly touched by the way our members show up for each other during difficult times and impressed by their dedication to the craft and community.
Fun fact: I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute and am an avid sourdough baker.
