Chapter Summer Picnic!

Extend your summer! We’re celebrating by firing up the grill for a family-friendly picnic at Coyote Point in San Mateo.

Join us from 12 noon-3 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 9 for some fun. Take in some sun. Hobnob with your fellow AAJA SFers. Gape at the 42-foot tall castle in the playground that boasts the longest enclosed slide in California. Bring your family, children and friends. We’ll supply the drinks, burgers and condiments. WHERE: Picnic Area #16 at the Magic Mountain Playground Area in Coyote Point Park, 1701 Coyote Point Drive in San Mateo

ABOUT THE PARK: Coyote Point is a regional recreation area that offers picnicking, swimming, bicycling, jogging, boating, a science and nature museum, and the giant castle-and-dragon-themed Magic Mountain Playground with a 42-foot tall castle atop a 5-foot hill. Magic Mountain features two play areas: one for 2 to 5 year olds and another for 5 to 12 year olds.

DIRECTIONS: If you’re coming from the north, take Highway 101 South. Take the Poplar Avenue exit. Turn right onto Humbolt until Peninsula Avenue. Turn right onto Peninsula Avenue. Go over the freeway, and then circle around and into the park. If you’re coming from the south, take Highway 101 North and take the Peninsula Avenue exit. Turn right onto Airport Boulevard. Turn left onto Coyote Point Drive to the park. $6 entrance fee. No pets allowed.
