AAJA’s National Convention is headed to Detroit this summer. We know
the price tag for the trip isn’t small so the SF Chapter will award up
to seven grants of $400 each to help members offset the cost and
attend the convention.
To apply, download the grant application at www.aajasf.org/grants or
email Co-President Katherine Tam at tam.kath (at) gmail (dot) com to have a copy
emailed to you. Current dues-paying full, associate and student
members are eligible. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Monday, May 23,
2011.
Programs and workshops at this year’s convention from Aug. 10-13 will
center on digital training, connecting you with journalism’s top
leaders and cutting-edge thinkers, and helping you take control of
your career. There is no better place to connect with your AAJA family
than during the convention. This is an unparalleled opportunity to
network with colleagues and news leaders from around the world.
Plus you’ll get a chance to explore the sights, tastes and sounds of
Motown. Have you tried a coney dog? What about a visit to Greektown?
And there are the not-to-be-missed Middle Eastern pastries in
Dearborn, where a cultural tour awaits convention attendees on opening
night.
Discounted early-bird registration rates are available through April
15. To register, go to http://aaja.org/programs/convention2011detroit/
