Student Pizza Night at San Francisco State University

Join us Wednesday night for a discussion on the future of journalism. AAJA SF is hosting a student pizza night and scholarship information event at 6 p.m. Wednesday March 18 in room HUM 308 (Humanities building) at San Francisco State University. Marcus Chan, multimedia editor for the San Francisco Chronicle, and Priya Ganapati, technology reporter for Wired.com, will be on hand to discuss the future of journalism. Bring lots of questions, and of course your appetite for some free pizza.

And don’t forget that the deadline for the 2009 scholarships is March 31. We are offering up to $10,000 in scholarships to outstanding high school seniors and college students who live in or attend school in the Bay Area.

You don’t have to be a journalism or mass communications major, but you must demonstrate serious intent to pursue a journalism career through strong work samples. Students are generally selected based on their journalistic ability (as demonstrated by their published work), commitment to journalism, sensitivity to Asian Pacific American issues, financial need and scholastic achievement.

The scholarship application is available on our “Scholarships” section (click on the page on the right). If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact scholarship committee co-chairs Katherine Tam at tam_kath@hotmail.com or Pia Sarkar at piasarkar@gmail.com.

See you Wednesday night!
